Monument Valley // Utah
I was heading toward Moab, Utah and thought I would spend some time around Monument Valley. The week before, Central America had reminded me how closed in the world can be. The jungles were so thick you could hardly see three feet in front of you.
But here, everything was different. In the desert, you can see to, what seems like, the edges of the Earth.
Every time you choose to spend your time on an image you’re rolling the dice. The light can be great, or it can be disastrous – and there’s nothing you can do about it. On this day – the light was perfect. It rolled down the red landscape behind me and lit up the clouds above the mittens (the buttes of the valley) and put on a spectacular light show.
After sunset, I had a bit of dinner, set up my tent – and slept under the desert stars.
