These peaks that tower around me as I make my way through the trees leave my jaw open as I go. It’s only the dry summer air that forces me blink and I remember to close my mouth and focus again on my mission. I’m looking for photographs.
This is one of those classic moments where everything is an image. Every place you look, in every direction, is so intensely beautiful that you want to make a record of it. It’s easy to get caught up in that, and it takes some experience and a sense of photographic training to reel yourself back and understand that if you give in to that impulse, and start pointing your camera and clicking – you leave with snapshots – not photographs.
