I have been drawn to the American Southwest so many times now. I love the secrecy. I’ve written about it so often when captioning my images. During the day the arid emptiness holds its secrets. But when evening falls, all is revealed. The change in light reveals colors and textures that you couldn’t see before, and it’s suddenly like a whole new place. As night falls, and the stars come alive, so does the desert. A star covered wonderland, away from the light pollution of the city, and the noises of society. But then, when the sun rises high again, everything resets and the desert’s pale, stone face returns to fool everyone into thinking that this place is a boring emptiness only worth passing through.
