Almost everywhere you looked there was something being made, the hard way. Not for a crowd, not for tourists, because there aren’t any here. These people are doing these things the hard way because that’s the way they’re done – because the craftsmanship matters.

On this day – the light was perfect. It rolled down the red landscape behind me and lit up the clouds above the mittens and put on a spectacular light show.

There’s a magic few minutes when the sun first hits the crests of the formations and light them up, giving you an opportunity to put together beautiful compositions. But, it only lasts a few minutes.

I spent a few minutes making some images with the moon before it rose too high for a decent composition. There were a few images that worked, but this is the one I’m showing today.

These peaks that tower around me as I make my way through the trees leave my jaw open as I go.

Then the clouds opened up and the sun started to peek through, and suddenly my arctic prison turned into a paradise.

When autumn comes across France, there’s a crispy, cold feeling in the air that excites your lungs. Getting out for an early morning walk can really jumpstart your senses for the day. I grab my camera and walk these early mornings with my eyes wide open to any opportunity to capture an image.

When I arrived in Ragusa, the rain had stopped and everything was wet, which I believe brings these Italian towns to life.

The wind blew across the water and shook the tiny boats, which were all painted in bright decorative colors. The sun peeked through the clouds, and little spots of light would illuminate this boat or that boat – making the colors light up like neon.
